that wily to be
A tall friend (the albatross) sent a nice link to a NYT (you need registration) article. Check it out, it’ll make you chuckle.

ah, friday
3:57 all is well. A hectic week coming to a close, and I’m close to finishing my todo list wooohoo. Still truckin’, trying to get closure on a phase of backup implementation in time to enjoy an outside margarite. Gotta pick my dad up in a bit, he’s getting into town on boat. I’m sad about that, though, it seems that he doesn’t have the time to hang out. I dunno, you make time for what’s important, and it bothers me when I hear he’s driven through town without even a phone call.

solicited
Not a regular client of strip clubs, I ended up on the road to Union Jack’s on Lower E Burnside the other night at the prodding of some friends. I thought I remembered seeing it next to the dance studio there so I parked in a lot on the west side of the building, to discover that I was several blocks short of the destination. Walking up the street, I saw a small group of people on the street corner, three of whom walked one way, and the fourth sort of came towards me, and the nice man greeted me and engaged me in some light chit-chat…it was interesting the smoothness with which he changed direction, to match my gait.

missing
wow, I’ve just been slammed here lately. I’m totally out of touch with all my blog buddies, the news, the world, beer, whatever. Work’s been nonstop. I feel like I have meetings or appointments or whatever every night. Last night we talked wedding plans, tnite I have a bizarro hearing about some players on one of the teams that I manage. And if that wasn’t happening I’d be at a coach’s meeting for the under 10’s team I manage.

no time
very busy lately…work’s been demanding, preparing for wedding, soccer’s been nuts, the beer festival (as a consumer) was pretty engaging, an so on and on, so light blogging lately and the near future.

funky day
cpr and AED (automated external defibrillator) training today in the office so did that instead of interesting posts. Also listened to the Rogue Hour this morning, pretty good stuff, I’ll tune in again next week. And the beer fest is this weekend, so I’ll be downing a pint or 2. or so. I expect to see all my favorite blogland friends down there, brett, emma, fred, rob and have no idea which you are.

conservative characteristics
via TBOGG, an article which describes research into the underlying psychological characteristics of conservatives. Funny, the points apply pretty directly to our current prez. They also explain a lot about the national (local is generally owned nationally too) media, if you care to note that so much of its reporting is designed to instill fear and oversimplify complex problems.

republican viewpoint
Last night, I was listening to the strongly Republican-slanted liberal media, a local station (normally it’s satellite, but not my car) and heard the following snippets…loosely quoted, but pretty close to what was said.
Shawn Steele (CA Republican party chair): speaking of the democrat presidential hopefuls, how they’re a bunch of nobody’s who will embarass the democratic party. In the next sentence, regarding the recall of Gray Davis, and how he’s not sure what they’re going to do now that [arnold] Schwarzenegger has [likely] withdrawn.

The Rogue Hour
Check out “The Rogue Hour” Friday morning 9am-10am on KBOO. Emma and BigAir Fred and some others have put together a radio program, and I’m sure it’ll be up to their high standards. I plan to be listening over the interweb. These are two of the best Oregon local bloggers, full of great info and arguments and rants and such, so I’ll expect a lot from their radio project 😉
