Another reason to vote no on 36 (for non-Oregonians, 36 basically modifies the Oregon Constitution to explicitly state that marriage is between a man and a woman). One may enter Mary’s Club from El Grillo (which means the grillo) if one is 21 or over or accompanied by a spouse who is of legal age. Thus speaketh the sign. True story…but seriously, this measure is quite possible the one in which I have heard the least rational arguments for in my entire life.

Wandering throught the beer aisle at New Seasons looking for something tasty and new, I happened upon a nice fellow who was giving samples of some tasty ales. The first that I tried was also my favorite of the bunch…Big Sky Crystal Ale. This ale is really good, having a very crisp flavor, complicated by bursts of sweet and bitter, the latter reminding me of the pleasant hopping of a Czech Pilsner.

sorry about the hiatus. Been way quiet lately, even though I have a few good things to post. Partly busy, partly trying to lessen computer/rick time, partly just beaten down dealing with all the frickin blog spam.

Came across a coupla cool blogs through Sun. Jonathan Scwartz is COO there and says lots of smart things. The DivaBlog is an open source advocate at Sun as well.

A perhaps depressing, perhaps enlightening article in the New Yorker on the Unpolitical Animal: we. The people. It discusses a number of ideas that I’d been kicking around for awhile, and introduced a lot of new ones to me as well. There are a few fantastic quotes in there as well.

Have you ever seen The Office? It’s this genius British comedy about an office run by this totally schmaltzy character, very funny but in a painful not laugh-out-loud way (leading to occasional explosions). Well, with Cheney’s recent terrorist comments methinks it could’ve been based on the USA. Holy cow. Vote for Kerry and be attacked by terrorists? Wow. They must’ve heard in the chatter that the bad guys are enjoying their Haliburton jobs and will stop at nothing to keep their sweetheart deals.
